Labang - the bull whom Baldo considers as his pet Plot 1. Baldo meets his brother Leons wife for the first time. Baldo fetches his brother Leon and Maria, and takes them home. They do not pass through the usual route, the camino real. Instead, they take a shortcut through a field waig as was ordered by their father.
Seeing his brother's wife, Baldo is easily taken away by the beauty of the woman from city. Her nails are long. She wears high heels and skirt. She has a small dimple on her right cheek. She is fragrant like a morning when papayas are in bloom.
They journey home with conversation and a song. Along their way home, Maria discovers the peculiarities of the life in Nagrebcan sounds of Labang and insects; clean air free of dust and smoke as opposed to their life in the city where she met and fell in love with Leon. The moral lesson in this story is that it is better to give than to receive. Though Baldo really loved Maria, he let his brother Leon marry her. The story depicts the difficulties experienced between city and province life.
Maria and Leon surpass all these difficulties because they love each other. Baldo was the one tasked to bring Leon and Maria to their house. But instead of following camino real which I believe was the main road , Baldo guided Labang the carabao the other way — back to where Ca Celin dropped them off and into the fields. This is where things get mysterious … and awkward. It speaks about loving and caring for each other. This entails and necessitates the ability and willingness to sacrifice selfish desires or even comforts to make your loved ones happy.
The story praises the ability to adapt to new circumstances and being positive to change and growth. Another message of the story is not judging people based on appearances and giving them space to express themselves and accept them for their differences.
